Who the course is for

The purpose of the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting is to provide students with the specialist knowledge and skills required for progressing either to employment in an accounting or finance role, or to enable progression to further study in accountancy and finance.
This qualification is a progression route for students who have achieved either the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting or the AAT Foundation Diploma in Accounting and Business. It is also suitable for those who are at a more intermediate level and looking to develop their skills in accounting, or for those who have already started working in finance and who have a need and desire to attain formal recognition of their skills.

Course Content

You will study the following units:

  • Advanced Booking
  • Final Accounts preparation
  • Management Accounting: Costing
  • Indirect Tax
  • Ethics for Accountants
  • Spreadsheets for Accounting

And a final Synoptic assessment

Learning Methods

Classroom based learners will attend Newcastle College Business Academy either 1 full day per week or 2 evenings per week. Learners will also be expected to complete additional coursework outside of these hours at home.

Progression Opportunities

After successfully completing the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting, you can progress to the AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting (Level 4).

Career opportunities on completion of this course may include: Accounts Assistant | Accounts Payable Clerk | Finance Officer | Finance Assistant.

Entry Requirements

Learners wishing to study this qualification must hold GCSE’s in Mathematics and English at Grade C, 4 or above. If a learner does not hold these qualifications an admission decision can be made based on their practical accounting work experience. International Learners must have minimum English language test score of 5.5 with no component under 5.
