Why did you choose to study a degree at the College?
I had previously studied at University and realised it wasn’t for me. I thought I would get more support at the College due to the smaller class sizes and really get to know my course tutors which was important.
What do you enjoy most about your Foundation degree course?
I really enjoy putting theory into practice. We learn about a particular topic and then we get to apply it in a real life setting. I learn by doing so this type of teaching really suits my learning style.
How do you think your course will prepare you for employment?
I think it will be equip me with the skills and knowledge I need to be a successful sports therapist. As part of the course I’ve been able to do my Level 3 in Sports Massage and next year I’m planning on taking my Level 2 in Gym Instruction and Level 3 in Personal Training. I think these additional qualifications will really set me apart from my competition when it comes to finding employment upon graduation.
How would you describe the staff at the College?
The course tutors are really friendly and are always there for you if you need help. They’re really knowledgeable in their fields so you feel like you’re learning from the best.
What’s Newcastle like as a student city?
It’s great, really vibrant and full of life. It’s always busy when the students are here so it adds a real buzz around the city.
What are your plans for the future?
I would like to go on to study for the BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy (Top-Up) and then hopefully in the future set up my own Sports Therapy clinic.
