Welcome > NSE > Marc Pugh - Teaching Case Study
''I have always had a passion for sports and was delivering a range of tennis coaching sessions for a number of companies including David Lloyd, Jesmond tennis club and Newcastle City Council. This prompted me to start thinking about studying a teaching qualification as I realised I enjoyed working with people and I had the skills required to help and support people. I applied and was successful in enrolling onto the PGCE full time qualification at the NSE. I realised I need to gain relevant work experience alongside my qualification so I started to search for potential placement opportunities in sports. I was delighted to secure an nine month teaching placement with Gosforth Academy. This experience has given me a platform to allow myself to apply the theory I learn on my course directly to the teaching I am delivering in school. I am currently teaching Physical Education at a range of levels including, Compulsory Year9-Year11, BTEC, A Level and GCSE. I am thoroughly enjoying the experience and it will give me the important practical skills alongside the theory to give me a successful career in the teaching and learning sector''.
