Ofsted Good
In 2022, we received a rating of ‘Good’ from Ofsted following a full inspection of NCG colleges. This rating was given for meeting high standards in teaching, student achievement, safety, and overall effectiveness, providing a strong and supportive learning environment.
Matrix Accredited
In 2022, Student Services at Newcastle College retained its Matrix Standard in recognition of their high-quality Information, Advice and Guidance services.
TEF Silver Award
In 2023, Newcastle College University Centre was awarded a Silver rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) for the positive impact our employer-led curriculum design has on our students.
Skills Builder Flagship Status
In 2023, we were awarded Skills Builder Flagship Status Award from The Skills Builder Partnership, recognising our commitment to helping learners develop the skills that will help them to succeed in their education and future employment.
City of Sanctuary
In 2023, we pledged to welcome refugees and people seeking asylum to the North East, becoming an official supporting organisation for Newcastle: City of Sanctuary.
Advanced Good Work Pledge
In 2024, we were revalidated and awarded Advanced Good Work Pledge in recognition of our commitment to being a great place to work. We aim to be an employer of choice, ensuring that we provide good jobs and recognise, value and nurture everybody who contributes to what we do.
Eco Campus Silver Award
We were awarded Eco Campus Silver status for our commitment to becoming a more sustainable campus with an emphasis on reducing our carbon footprint and educating our students about the importance of sustainable development.
Higher Technical Qualifications Provider
Since 2021, a number of degrees offered at Newcastle College University Centre have been awarded Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) status by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfaTE), confirming they meet the needs of employers and learners, and form part of the government’s focus on skills for jobs and higher technical education.
Educate North Award
In 2023, Newcastle College won the Mental Health and Wellbeing Award at the Educate North Awards in recognition of our Mental Health and Wellbeing Digital Project.
Over the years Newcastle College has been shortlisted for multiple Educate North Awards in categories including Diversity, Equality and Inclusion, Student Experience – HE/FE Sector and Community Engagement.
