UK Visas and Immigration advice for Ukrainian Nationals

Newcastle College stands in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and supports their right to peace, freedom and sovereignty. We are committed to supporting anyone affected by this crisis and welcome those who have fled Ukraine to the UK.

If you have come to the UK from Ukraine and are looking to continue your education here, we would love to welcome you to study at Newcastle College. Please read the below information carefully for information on UK Visas, Immigration and Tuition Fee Funding for Ukraine Nationals in the UK.

Immigration routes

There are two immigration routes for Ukrainian nationals wishing to come to, or to remain in the UK. These routes may allow you to be funded to study a course at Newcastle College:

1. The “Homes for Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme" (launched on 18 March 2022), allows Ukrainian nationals and their family members to come to the UK if they have an approved sponsor under the scheme.

2. The “Ukraine Extension Scheme” (launched on 3 May 2022), allows Ukrainian nationals and their family members who already have leave to remain in the UK to extend their leave in the UK because they cannot return to Ukraine.

Eligible students with leave granted under one of the Ukraine Schemes will be able to apply for;

  • Further Education (FE) support, including Advanced Learner Loans (FE ALL)
  • Higher Education undergraduate (HE UG) fee and maintenance support
  • HE Short Courses Tuition Fee Loans (HESC TFL)
  • Postgraduate (PG) contribution to cost support (Master’s and Doctoral Loans)
