Hairdressing - Level 2 (Year 2)

• A Level 2 Cutting and Styling qualification

• 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above in any subject

and

• GCSE English and maths at grade 1 or above.

On successful completion you will receive a City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing. 

• Working in the hairdressing industry
• Follow health and safety practice in the salon
• Client consultation for hair services
• Promote products and services in a salon
• Colour and lighten hair
• Perm and neutralise hair
• The art of colouring hair
• Scalp massage
• Salon reception duties.

• Practical training in a real working salon
• Demonstrations
• Group work
• Theory
• Work placement within the industry.

• Practical assessments
• Written assignments
• Online external tests.

You will carry out an industry work placement alongside your course, gaining a minimum of 315 hours within a salon.

English and maths skills are essential in the hairdressing industry and these will be embedded into your course with mixing rations, timings, client communication and calculating bookings.

You will be supported to achieve Grade 4 GCSEs in maths and English alongside your course if you do not currently hold these.

You can progress to Level 3 in Hairdressing when you successfully complete this course.
