Calling all creatives! If you've got a passion for design, fashion, textiles, and the creative arts, the Art and Design Access to Higher Education course will be your next step to a colourful career.

This practical, broad-based one-year course encourages you to explore your skills and interests. You'll get the opportunity to experiment with a wide range of materials and techniques, developing your individuality, initiative and confidence.

You'll cover topics such as drawing, fashion and textile design, art history, interior and architectural design, foundations in computer aided design and experimental painting, giving you a variety of skills to start and exciting career in Art and Design.

Learning from industry-experienced tutors, you'll build your skills and knowledge in all things creative, giving you the tools to paint a colourful future.

Plus, if you're aged 19-23 on or before the 31st of August and this is your first Level-3 course, the course is free! Also, if you do need an Advanced Learner Loan, your loan will be wiped once you go on to finish a degree, so you won’t have to pay it back!*

Daily tasks:

  • Produces works on commission basis for clients.
  • Markets and sells finished work directly to customers.
  • Liaises with writers and publishers to produce book illustrations.
  • Uses artistic skills to restore damaged artworks.
  • Approaches managers of galleries and exhibitions in order to get finished work displayed.
  • Builds up composition into finished work by carving, sculpting, etching, painting, engraving, drawing, etc..
  • Prepares sketches, scale drawings or colour schemes.
  • Selects appropriate materials, medium and method.
