On successful completion of this course, you will achieve a City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Techniques.

Please be aware that due to awarding body regulations your finished portfolio must be made available, if requested, up to three years after your course has been completed.

You will learn in an industry standard beauty salon The Retreat and practise your techniques on real paying clients.

You will have the opportunity to gain additional qualifications alongside your course in areas such as spray tanning, gel nails and lash extensions.

Previous learners have also benefitted from field trips to locations including Professional Beauty London and Alton Towers Resort and Spa.

English and maths skills are important in the beauty industry, whether you are working in a spa or as a self-employed beauty therapist.

These skills are embedded into your course through client communication, booking and organisation of diaries, treatment and product costings and product and mixing ratios.

If you do not currently hold grade 4 GCSEs in these subjects you will be supported to achieve them alongside your course.

If you successfully complete the course, you could progress to a Foundation Degree in Aesthetic Practice and Spa Management, or our Advanced Skin Techniques degree at Newcastle College University Centre. 

If you would like to go into employment, you could work in a beauty salon or spa, health farm or cruise liner as a representative for supplies in retail sales, as a self-employed mobile beauty therapist or a beauty consultant.
