Creative Media Production - Level 3

• 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English or maths and an art-based subject

This is a two-year programme. You will achieve a qualification after successful completion of each year.

In year one you will receive a Level 3 BTEC 90 Credit Diploma Creative Media Production (Media).

In year two you will receive a Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma Creative Media Production (Media).

This Creative Media Production course is coursework based. Tutors encourage an open door policy and regular tutorials to give you regular feedback. 

Previous students have welcomed talks from top film producers, directors and radio producers, including Simon Maloney, Assistant Director and Producer of Peaky Blinders. 

You are encouraged to showcase your talent through live briefs and competitions. Newcastle College students have previously won the international 15 Second Horror Film Festival and worked on briefs set by Universal and Fox. 

If you do not hold English and/or maths GCSEs at grade 4 or above, you will be supported with dedicated lessons to help you achieve English and maths qualifications.

You will use your maths skills when setting up cameras, calculating lighting and working out box office sales and figures. Your English skills will be developed when creative writing, storyboarding and explaining concepts and ideas. 

On successful completion you could progress onto a related degree level qualification with Newcastle College University Centre. 

You may also wish to find employment at junior level as a production assistant or runner.
