Digital Software Development (Digital Software Development) - T-Level

• You will typically require a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above, including IT/Computer Science, English and maths.

OR

• Merit grade or higher in Level 2 Extended Certificate/Diploma in Digital/IT/ Computing, plus GCSE English and maths at Grade 4 or above.
• You may also be required to participate in an assessment to assess suitability ahead of enrolment.

On successful completion of this course you will achieve a Pearson Level 3 T-Level in Digital Software Development.

You will study the following core modules:

• Problem solving
• Introduction to programming
• Emerging issues and impact of digital
• Legislation and regulatory requirements
• Business context
• Data
• Digital environments
• Security.

You will also complete an occupational specialism component (Digital Production, Design and Development).

Alongside your studies you will undertake a substantial work experience placement of at least 45 days.

Work experience is an important part of your T-Level. You will undertake a substantial work placement with an employer for a minimum of 45 days during your course to help you prepare for your next steps. You will also undertake an employer-set project as part of the course.

English and maths skills are vital to all roles in digital and these are embedded throughout the course to help you prepare for working in the industry. Key skills will include presenting information and ideas, understanding data and risk and processing and analysing numerical data.

On successful completion of your T-Level in Digital Production, Design and Development, you will be guaranteed a place on a relevant degree course at Newcastle College University Centre. Alternatively, you can progress onto a variety of entry-level roles or apprenticeships in the digital industry, such as a software development technician, junior developer, junior mobile app developer, junior games developer or assistant programmer.
