Fashion and Textiles - Level 3

• 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above

• GCSE Art at grade 4 or above

You will be invited to meet the teaching team to make sure Fashion and Textiles is the right course to help you achieve your ambitions.

This is a two-year programme. You will receive an award after successful completion of each year.

In year one you will achieve a Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Fashion and Textiles.

In year two you will achieve a Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Fashion and Textiles.

Last year students had guest lectures from London Fashion Week make-up artists, Harvey Nichols' merchandisers and designers from Dirty Laundry.

Students took up placements working as dressers at Newcastle's Theatre Royal and designing costumes for Signet Events Halloween Fright Night and Mad Hatters Tea Party.

Students also undertook client-briefs from Krispy Kreme and Beckleberrys and supported fashion shows for St Oswalds and Gok Wan's Roadshow.

English and maths skills in fashion and textiles are essential. We will support you to achieve your qualifications and enhance your existing skills.

You will use maths in practise when you undertake things like scale and proportion in pattern cutting. You will use English when you communicate your work and produce critical writing and research.

Upon successful completion of this course, you can progress onto a range of creative degree courses, including our own FdA Fashion Design and Innovative Technologies or FdA Fashion Retail and Enterprise degrees.

Previous alumni have gone on to work for organisations like Abercrombie and Fitch, MAC and Barbour.
