Are you passionate about sports, physical activity, and cutting-edge science? Then our FdSc Sport and Exercise Science course could be your gateway to a dynamic and rewarding career in the growing field of sports science!

In this course, you will explore the science behind human motion with biomechanical analysis, and discover ways to optimise athlete performance and support rebalitation. You will also study components of sports science such as biomechanics, anatomy, and psychology.

Learning takes place in fantastic facilities, including a biomechanics lab, conditioning suite, sports hall, and our Sports Injury Clinic meaning you'll develop hands-on, transferrable skills through innovative learning methods and real-world applications, whilst learning from expert tutors who bring cutting-edge knowledge into the classroom.

As part of the course, you’ll have the chance to undertake placements with local sports organisations, rehabilitation centres, or athletic clubs, building invaluable connections and hands-on experience. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to pursue extra qualifications, such as First Aid, Sports Massage, and Sports Taping and Strapping Techniques*.

After completing this course you will have the tools, knowledge, and experience you need to explore diverse opportunities across sports performance, physical activity, rehabilitation, and sports technology.

  • Assesses and provides treatment for people with mental disabilities, or those suffering with mental illness, stress, and emotional and relationship problems.
  • Administers aromatic herbs and oils and massage to relieve pain and restore health.
  • Adopts a holistic approach in assessing the overall health of the patient, and treats by inserting needles under the skin at particular locations according to the disorder being treated.
  • Manipulates and massages patient to discover the cause of pain, relieve discomfort, restore function and mobility and to correct irregularities in body structure.
  • Diagnoses and treats disorders of vision and eye movements, monitors subsequent progress and recommends further optical, pharmacological or surgical treatment as required.
  • Prescribes diet therapy and gives advice to patients, health care professionals and the public on dietetic and nutritional matters for those with special dietary requirements or to prevent illness amongst the general population.
