Media Make-Up - Level 3 (Part-Time)

• A relevant Level 2 qualification in make-up.

• If English is not your first language you should hold a Level 2 Functional Skills English or Level 2 ESOL qualification, or equivalent

On successful completion of this course you will receive a VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Fashion, Theatre and Media Hair and Makeup Studies.

Students studying Media Make-up will benefit from working in our real hair and beauty salon The Retreat.

Alongside your studies you will have the opportunity to attend local masterclasses and do make up for fashion shows and working to a live brief.

Previous students have enjoyed trips to the Charlotte Tilbury Master Class, P Louise Empire Make up Master Class in Manchester, and collaborated with Fire and Rescue Department carrying out SFX make up.

Student have also took part in intercollege, regional and national competitions along with WorldskillsUK competitions.

English and maths are essential in the hair, beauty and make up industry to ensure excellent communication with clients, accurate bookings and payments, treatment and service costings, colour and product mixing ratios. These skills will be embedded into your course.

If you have not yet achieved grade 4 GCSE in these subjects you will be supported to work towards achieving qualifications.

On successful completion of this course you can progress to degree level study, such as the FdA in Advanced Techniques in Media and Semi-Permanent makeup at Newcastle College University Centre.

You can also progress directly into the industry, working as a professional make-up artist in photographic studios, department stores, make-up stores, salons or as a mobile artist.
