Sports Massage Therapy - Level 3 (Part-Time)

Applicants should ideally hold a Level 2 qualification such as GCSE, Functional Skills English, or ESOL Skills for Life.

However, if you do not have a formal qualification we still encourage you to apply, as life and work experience may have equipped you with the skills necessary to succeed on this programme. All applicants will be required to complete an initial/diagnostic assessment to evaluate their suitability for the course.

If English is your second language and you do not currently hold a Level 2 ESOL Skills for Life qualification, you may also be invited to complete an English language assessment.

Previous experience or an introductory qualification in massage is advantageous but not a requirement.

Upon successful completion of this course you will achieve a Level 3 Additional Specialist in Sports Massage Therapy.

You will gain hands-on experience working on real clients under supervision in our in-house Sports Injury Clinic.

Good English skills are essential for effective communication with clients, helping practitioners explain treatment plans clearly and build trust. They are also needed for reading client records, understanding technical information, and accurately completing documentation. 

Maths skills are equally important, particularly for managing time during treatments and scheduling appointments. Practitioners often need to measure body parts or calculate ranges of motion, ensuring precise and safe therapy. Basic maths is also useful when mixing oils or solutions in correct proportions and understanding health-related ratios such as BMI.

Upon successful completion of this course, you could progress directly into employment as a Sports Massage Therapist in a variety of contexts.

You may also choose to go onto further study, either by completed a degree in Sports Massage or by progressing onto a specialist qualification including pregnancy massage, shiatsu, myofascial release and more.
