Newcastle College is proud to announce it has received the Skills Builder Flagship Status Award from The Skills Builder Partnership, recognising its commitment to helping learners develop the skills that will help them to succeed in their education and future employment.

Made up of almost 850 organisations across 10 countries, The Skills Builder Partnership is a global movement of employers, educators, and impact organisations, working together to ensure that everyone builds the essential skills to succeed. It works with schools and colleges to ensure that students of all ages and abilities can build the essential skills they need to succeed, including problem solving, leadership, teamwork and communication.

Newcastle College is one of just 15 organisations (and the only further education college) to receive Flagship status, making it part of a select group of educators that have demonstrated continued commitment to building students’ essential skills.

Ronnie Burn, Head of Careers Education and Student Progress commented: “We are extremely proud to achieve the Flagship Status Award. As a college, we are committed to providing our learners with the skills they need to progress and succeed in their future, and that includes these recognised essential skills.

“Time has been dedicated to embed these essential skills across all aspects of the curriculum; within tutorials (group, and one to one), preparation for work delivery, work experiences, and employer engagement. Students are showing that they have an understanding of the value of these essential skills, enabling them to take personal ownership.”

Tom Ravenscroft, Founder and CEO of Skills Builder Partnership said: “All the schools and colleges who have achieved a Skills Builder Award this year have demonstrated that they are committed to ensuring that every one of their students builds the essential skills to succeed. We congratulate them on a brilliant achievement.”
