Newcastle College was proud to attend the Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust annual ball in July, presenting trustees with a cheque for almost £2,000.

The funds have been raised over the last academic year by students and colleagues at Newcastle College through fundraising events including Battle of the Bands, bake sales and themed pink and blue days.

The Together Forever Trust was created to commemorate the lives of Newcastle College student Chloe Rutherford and her boyfriend Liam Curry who were killed in the Manchester Arena Bombings in 2017. Established by the couple’s families, the aim is to support others in the region to follow their dreams and achieve their goals in sport and performance.

Newcastle College is one of the Trust’s main sponsors and works closely with them to keep Chloe and Liam’s memories alive, and to raise funds that will support young people into the sporting and performance industries.

So far, the trust has raised over £1million and supported over 1,000 young people, including students studying Sport and Performing Arts at Newcastle College.

Ronnie Burn, Chair of Newcastle College’s Charities Project Team, said: “We are deeply honoured to celebrate and carry forward the incredible legacy of Chloe and Liam. Through our ongoing partnership with the Together Forever Trust, we don’t just remember two remarkable young lives, we actively champion the dreams of others who share their passion for performance and sport. Encouraging ambition, inspiring excellence, and nurturing talent is at the heart of what we do, and supporting the Trust ensures that Chloe and Liam’s lights continue to shine brightly through the achievements of the next generation."
