A Photography student from Newcastle College University Centre is one step closer to his dream career as a food photographer.
Scott Haddow, currently in the final year of his degree in photography, has been shortlisted for the World Food Photography Awards 2025.
Now in its 14th year, the world’s leading awards for food photography will take place at the Mall Gallery in London on Tuesday 20 May.
The team behind the awards received thousands of entries from photographers across 70 countries. Scott entered five images, and his image ‘Chef’s deep affection for carrots’ was shortlisted in the Student Food Photographer of the Year category, supported by the Royal Photographic Society (RPS).
If Scott wins, his work and an interview will be published by the award-winning RPS Journal and he’ll get a 60-minute one-to-one meeting with commercial photography consultant and mentor, Zoe Whishaw.
Scott said: “I like entering competitions to get my name out there. If my images get selected, that’s even better as it’s great for my confidence. With this competition, I decided to enter my photos in the student category. It was brilliant to get the email saying I’d been shortlisted. I’m really excited to go to the awards ceremony next week to find out if I’ve won and to see my image in the exhibition.
“I want to say a huge than you to my tutors Zoe Korda and Alan Thoburn. Their encouragement and support over the last three years has been incredible.”
