Do you have a flair for applying make up? Do you enjoy trying out the latest hairstyles? Are you looking to learn practical skills and techniques to turn a hobby into a successful career? If so, a hair and beauty course with Newcastle College might be for you.


Our hair and beauty courses give you the opportunity to apply your skills on real paying customers within The Retreat, our commercial hair and beauty salon and nail bar which is open to the public. 

You will also have access to our beauty and holistic therapy training floor, a Centre for Excellence for the International Institute for Anti-Ageing.

Whether you want to become a hairstylist, colour technician, beauty therapist or make-up artist, we will help you get to where you want to be.

Beauty Therapy - Level 2 (Part-Time)

Succeed in the beauty industry through learning learn skincare, manicure and pedicure treatments, eyelash and brow treatments, and make-up.

What can I do with a Hair and Beauty qualification?

Daily tasks:

  • Ensures custody of all cash receipts and organises regular stock checks.
  • Recruits, supervises and trains staff.
  • Determines financial, staffing, material and other short- and long-term needs.
  • Advises on the facilities available and promotes publicity in relation to shows, games, races, new theme parks, etc..
  • Keeps abreast of new trends and developments in recreational activities and arranges exhibitions, theatrical productions, concerts, demonstrations etc..
  • Ensures that facilities are kept clean and in good condition and that appropriate health and safety requirements are adhered to.
  • Organises timetable of activities/schedule of programmes.
