About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Mechanic to join our friendly and skilled team. This is an excellent opportunity to begin your career in the motor vehicle industry, gaining hands-on experience in a supportive and professional environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced mechanics with routine maintenance and repair work on a variety of vehicles.

• Learn to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults using diagnostic tools and equipment.

• Perform basic servicing tasks, including oil changes, tyre rotations, and brake inspections.

• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workspace.

• Follow all workshop health and safety procedures.

• Communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.

Requirements

• Must live locally and be able to travel to Newcastle College one day per week.

• Technical Aptitude: Basic understanding of automotive systems and components.

• Attention to Detail: Ability to carry out tasks accurately and thoroughly.

• Problem-Solving Skills: Able to identify and resolve mechanical issues effectively.

• Physical Stamina: Comfortable performing physically demanding tasks in a workshop environment.

• Communication Skills: Clear and effective verbal and written communication.

• Team Player: Works well collaboratively with others.

• Willingness to Learn: Eager to develop new skills and knowledge.

• Reliability: Punctual and committed to learning and progressing in the role.

Progression

Successful completion of the apprenticeship may lead to full-time employment with Gordon Murray Motor Engineers.
